Davis author and edible Sacramento contributor Ann Evans released a revised edition of The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook in early November. Available at the Davis Farmers Market, local bookstores in Davis, and through Amazon.com, The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook celebrates America’s favorite farmers’ market’s 40th anniversary year.
The foreword, by restaurateur Alice Waters of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, highlights the importance and fun of shopping at a farmers’ market and the model role the Davis Farmers Market has played.
The cookbook features 75 recipes organized by season, including some to help you preserve each season for your pantry. Color photographs of the market, its farmers and vendors, and the recipes by award-winning photographer Craig Lee illustrate the beauty of the market, the produce, and the finished dishes.

More than 30 local farmers are introduced in these pages, giving readers the opportunity to get to know the people who produce and sell the foods they buy each week. This revised edition (the first edition sold out) also includes 20 new recipes and a year of monthly menus for festive, food-focused gatherings. The book also highlights the role of second-generation farmers at the market and programs that bring farm-fresh foods into the schools.
